You cannot opt out of Extend Health, Dental, Life and Disability Insurance, but you can choose to enroll a in lower-level option (i.e. Silver) where applicable. If you do not do your enrollment event, the default coverage of gold health and dental (single coverage) will be assigned to you.
Service Hours (SVC Hours) are based on your hours worked and are used to determine eligibility for some benefits, including the Retirement Savings Plan (RSP), health benefits for Seasonal employees and your Vacation accrual rate. Service Hours are shown on your paycheque.
How do I register for benefits?
Employees can only enroll in benefits if they are newly eligible (due to new hire, re-hire, seasonal full-time employees meeting the hours requirement, or applicable transfer/promotion) or during Open Enrollment in July. Otherwise, changes can only be made through a Qualified Life Event.
