Sick Day Information

How to call in sick:

Please call the Schedulers between the hour of 7:00am- 7:30am so they have time to cover your shift. Or even better the day before if you know you won’t be well enough to teach the next day.

To claim your sick day pay please email your supervisor to get your Sick Day Paid out.

Sick Time Off:

Effective January 1st, 2022 all employees at Whistler Blackcomb who have reached 90 consecutive days of employment are eligible for 5 days of company paid sick leave annually.

At the beginning of the calendar year, you will be allocated the max hours of either 40 hours or 50 hours (if you are on a 4 x 10 averaging agreement).  Balances will decrease based on hours used during the calendar year. On the first cheque of the next calendar year, your balance will be increased by 40 hrs or 50 hrs to a maximum of 80 hrs; 120 hours for year-round employees.

Returning seasonal employees will not need to restart the 90 day accrual period unless they have not been employed by Vail for over a year or if it is specified in their employment agreement.

Sick Pay is non-reimbursable, meaning it does not get paid out upon separation. Sick Pay is used for the occasional day off sick, to attend to sick dependents, or during the two-week waiting period for Short-Term Disability.
