New Staff Preseason Mandatory Training
If you are new to Whistler Blackcomb you will need to complete the following paid training sessions in order to start work. Sign up here: TBD. You will need to create a new login using the email address that we have on file for you.
NB WBSSU instructors will be assigned training sessions - please look out for an email from WB Snow School.

Before anything else, the first set of training you will do is your online new hire training. Online training will be send to you automatically as a series of emails from Vail and a program called Saba/The Lift.
How to access: You can access the trainings directly from your emails or by logging into The Lift - Online Training directly.
NB You will be automatically assigned "Wage & Hour" and "My Schedule - Powered by Legion" - you are NOT required to complete these unless you also have a job in an additional department.
Visa information task – if you are an international hire who has not entered Canada yet, please upload a copy of your letter of entry and the approximate anticipated end date of your visa. This usually depends on your home country and the end date of your insurance.
Background Check Task – this is mandatory to complete if assigned to you.
For international employees who do not have SIN and need to authorize a background check, leave the social security number box blank.
Then, if your country has an equivalent of the social insurance number, you can put this in the National ID box.
If you do not have an equivalent, please put the your passport number in the National ID box.

Presented by Employee Experience; this approximately 2.5 hour walking tour and trade show. You will pass key areas in Whistler Village, learn about Whistler and our company as a whole including company policies and our core values then have an opportunity to chat with different departments at new staff Trade Show.

This is a 2 hour indoor training session to learn how the Whistler Blackcomb Snow School Works. The "nuts and bolts" of safety, guest service, snow school policies, procedures and structure.

If you missed the in person session. Please watch the video and then fill out the following quiz to check your understanding and get paid.

Full day (6 hour) on hill session for new staff to learn about the daily operations, policies and expectations specific to their home pod. Our main priorities in the Snow School are to keep you safe and help you deliver the best possible experience to our guests.
This session usually meets at 8am at your home pod location which is noted when you make your selections and in your confirmation email. Please wear your uniform and helmet, bring your active staff pass and be ready to ski or ride.
We will try to match you up with your supervisor for at least one of the on snow days so you can get to know your team. More details will be sent to you about your specific OST.

Full day (6 hour) on hill session for new staff to learn more about teaching tactics you can use at WB. This includes connecting with guests, understanding the skills framework, managing splits and appropriate terrain.
This session usually meets 8am at your home pod location. Please wear your uniform and helmet, bring your active staff pass and be ready to ski/ride.
We will try to match you up with your supervisor for at least one of the on snow days so you can get to know your team. More details will be sent to you about your specific IST.

For those that missed the in person Snow School Orientation for return staff, please use the slide deck provided to familiarize yourself with this year’s important information and then fill out this quiz in order to be paid for the time it takes you.

This usually an on-hill session (but can be off-hill too) with your pod supervisor where you will review any changes to your area, safety procedures, teaching expectations and any pertinent information for your operations.
The RST varies from pod to pod and could be online or in person - indoor or on snow, and usually no more than 4 hours in length. Sign up for this will be through your supervisor or on flaik. (Details on how to use this system and sign up are here).
